Creepypastas are disturbing ghost, or horror stories in general that lurk through the internet.  It's basically the equivalent of telling camp-fire stories to each other.  The real interest of Creepypasta is that you don't know whether or not the stories are true...   Sure, there's some you can tell are fake but I've read quite a few of them that made me wonder.

I'm about to post one that made me go "WTF?" after reading it.  I want to believe it's fake but the website it mentions inside is, in fact, a real website.  So who knows?  I first found this in a thread on reddit about websites that were weird/freaky/troublesome.  The thread had a link to an image that was just a huge wall of text.  I later found someone who had copied it all out, making it a lot easier to read.  Below is what the image said..

Oh boy, creepypasta! May I make a few suggestions? http://www.angelfire.com/trek/caver/ (True case or not? I'll leave it at that) and http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com (Ranges from good to creepy to quirky to badly written, as it's a wiki, but all very bureaucratic and science-y.)

I remember reading that Ted story about the cave a number of years ago.  It's actually interesting.  I'm sure that one is fake but it's still a good read.  I've been to several caverns in my life (Mammoth, Carlsbad, Mariana) and they can be pretty spooky on their own.  Add in the fact that there's probably still tons of caverns that are undiscovered/unexplored and you have a good recipe for the story, which is why I think it works so well.

SCP is hit or miss most of the time.  This is still my favorite SCP.

Here's a creepypasta of my own!

Earlier, I saw Iyou had replied. So I read his post. It said only "I remember reading that Ted story about the cave a number of years ago.  It's actually interesting.  I'm sure that one is fake but it's still a good read. SCP is hit or miss most of the time." I think, "cool, Iyou replied, I'm going to reply too later today." I check the thread again and Iyou's post had... changed. Stuff had been added to it. DID YOU THINK I WOULDN'T NOTICE?! KAKAKAKAKAKA

I've never been to a cavern, myself. (I've never read Ted's story either, actually; someone gave me the link, and it's been sitting in my favorites, waiting for the day I get the courage to read it... Or maybe when I stop being lazy and go through the stuff that's been sitting in my favorites forever. I must be under the effects of http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-j )

So, since you've read both the creepypastas I linked, might as well ask for your opinion on Carmilla (does it count as creepypasta? Very long creepypasta?). :P

I wouldn't say Carmilla counts as a creepypasta. lol.  I'm not done with all of it yet though (I read like 3/4 of it and then haven't gone back to finish it).

I think the trick to whether or not it is "creepypasta" vs just a story is whether or not you can believe it's real or not.  Like the story I posted in the op.  Sure, it's probably fake but we all know humanity can be pretty screwed up.  The site exists and there's videos on it.  Is it a video of an primate ripping a woman apart and eating her?  No.  Could such a video exist?  Probably.  Videos of people being beheaded exist on the net (though I refuse to watch them).  Videos of people being literally beaten to death by gangs exist online (again, I refuse to watch them but they do exist).  It isn't a far stretch to think that a video of a woman being mauled exists and thus it's disturbing and creepy.

Ted's cave adventure is also similar in that while the story is probably fake, it's within the realm of believability. lol  Think I already sort of mentioned why in the last post.

Carmilla ... while the story is definitely more coherent than the movie, it just isn't creepypasta to me.

Yes I know Carmilla's not creepypasta, just a "horror" story, but you've read all the creepypasta I had to link, and I might as well NOT make a thread just for Carmilla.

I'm going to interpret your laconic reply of "more coherent than the movie" as "not as bad as the movie, in the sense that watching a woman be mauled by a chimpanzee is not as bad as Blood and Tears"

If we're going to include other horror stories, then we need to mention Stephen King or Dean Koonz. lol

Which is why I'm sort of inclined to believe that the story is fake. lol.

lol yeah I'd have to agree. couldn't find any images of it or anything like it on the net, and if it were something that crazy it'd be all over the place much like the ones I mentioned.
