Yeah, pretty much what Scott says. I don't have time to host a bot full time any more and it seems like I'm rarely online any more lol.

I'll try to be online on Tuesday and will have the bot up. At the moment it's still very basic. No battles, no objects, no real items (except a few ores and a pickaxe). No armor, no skills, no classes.

But you can walk around, talk, and dig new rooms which is..something..I guess.

Beta 092114
I've gone ahead and made it so Creatures of Science start with the Water Breathing passive skill and Elves start with the Night Vision skill. Humans, alas, do not start with any skills yet until I can think of a good one lol. Of course all of this may change soon.

* Added the Underwater check for rooms. To test, I've added a Crystal Lake in the test zone that can only be fully explored if you can breathe underwater (i.e. have the Water Breathing skill) or are wearing the scuba tank accessory.

* Added the !skills command (shows you your passive/active/resistance/killer trait skills if you have any).

* Added the !chop tree command (also can be done with: chop tree). This command will allow you to attempt to chop down a tree if you have a hatchet in your inventory. Upon successfully chopping down a tree the game will attempt to give you a random wooden log (from a list that is set in the zone folder). If your inventory is full, the log will be dropped into the room. If the room's inventory list is full, the item will simply disappear. There's a 30% chance that a tree will not be successfully chopped down. The chop command also consumes 5 stamina per use.

* Added the ability to equip and remove accessories. Use !wear item or wear item / !remove item or remove item. The bot will automatically figure out if it's an accessory, armor piece, or something that can't be equipped.

[22:53] <Iyouboushi> wear scubatank
[22:53] <RelicHunter> You have equipped the accessory scubatank

[22:53] <Iyouboushi> remove scubatank
[22:53] <RelicHunter> You have removed the accessory scubatank

* Changed the tick mechanism so that it can remove HP in addition to adding HP. Right now it only does the check for it, not actually removes it. This is mostly for if you're under water and remove your scuba tank (assuming you don't have the natural water breathing skill). Later I might change it so you CAN go into water without water breathing and accessories, but it'll start damaging you (rather than blocking access at all).

* Changed 'char' to 'chr' in the stats. I'm a little OCD like that.

* Improved the $dcc.private.message command to make it faster and to make it so it won't stop if the message it's trying to send is empty (such as a missing entry in translation.dat). Prior to this it would just...stop/throw an error in the bot's window.

* Fixed a stupid mistake in new_char where I had the system flags in the wrong flag section lol.

* Fixed a bug with drop item in which it would remove the item from your list even if you had more than 1 left after dropping.

Overall, not a huge update..but it chugs along.

If you want to make the world finite, perhaps you could make it circular, like Mario Bros. (and real life!): if you go far enough horizontally, you'll wrap around and eventually return to your starting point.

As long as we stand, we will fight!

That's actually a pretty good idea.

I really need to go back and work on this a little more.  Unfortunately it's probably never going to get fully finished (lack of time/motivation) but I'd at least like to get it to the point where the tutorial world is finished and maybe one hub world (where players can modify).

While I appreciate that, I probably won't ever get RelicHunter to a playable state.  At this point I almost want to start over with a different idea for it lol.   Though if you want to take what little I've done and host it and let people screw around with digging their own rooms and whatnot, feel free.  It would only work on clients that accept DCC (so people who use Mibbit or other website-based IRC clients would be excluded).
