Fighting Circuits

I know this is probably the third or fourth mIRC game idea that I've posted here on the board but to be honest I keep coming up with ideas and my interest in actually making another Battle Arena style bot is almost nil.  Last night I thought up of a different bot that I may (probably not) make.  For a temporary title I call it FIGHTING CIRCUITS.

Concept

Players are inventors who are trying to create the ultimate fighting robot.  Upon signing up they are given $1000 to create their robot by buying a frame, equipping it with armor, skills, and techniques.  After picking out parts and giving their robot a cool name, the players then have to program their robot's robo DNA by giving it a phrase/string.

Whatever the player puts as the phrase/string will be converted into the Robo DNA which will then be used to determine what actions the robot takes inside of matches and some of the robot's stats (modifiers).

The winners of the matches will earn money and the robots can level up (slowly). Every day of logging into the game will give money to the player.

If I ever do get around to making this it will probably be much more simplistic compared to Battle Arena.

A few things before I could ever code this..

I need to figure out how to make a C# DLL that would work with mIRC because I would want to keep the robo DNA stuff secret so people can't just look at the source and figure out the best phrase to create the ultimate robot.

Other than that.. I think I would just use the Pokemon battle formulas just to use an established formula.

So each phrase would generate a robot with different abilities and stats? Would it be balanced (every starting robot has the same amount of stat modifiers on top of the customizable frame, but they get distributed differently) or could you (semi-)randomly get a level 1 or 99 (or a more reasonable cap of course) bot? How would robot AIs differ? I know you could make something more simplistic than Battle Arena, but maybe it would be funner if you made something more complicated (at least in terms of how you CAN'T make strategies, at least while the bot's "young" and no one knows what the phrases do beforehand)! How would you program all of this (Cliff's Notes for me since I'm not a programmer)?

Sounds like a fun idea.

Well, a lot of it would have to be worked out of course.  That's why I haven't even started thinking about actually programming it yet.  But I was thinking that all robots start at level 1 with a small amount of stats.  Then the accessories/frames/whatever you buy would increase those stats a little bit (nothing crazy like BA or DBZRPG) the rest would be due to the Robo DNA. The phrases you could input would literally be anything.  You could type "Hello World" and it would convert it.  Or you could use "Iyouboushi sucks" and it would work.  Heck, you could put in a 256 character tweet and it would work... literally anything would convert.

I was thinking of it converting into a hash string and the robo DNA would be extracted from the hash but I don't really have all of the details written out.  Plus to keep people from figuring out the best phrases and stuff I would almost certainly have to write the code that converts the hash into usable stats and AI parts via a DLL that isn't open-source.  And since I have absolutely no idea how to write a DLL that mIRC can use that puts a huge damper on the project.

Ohh, so you could integrate it with Twitter somehow? Say, make a website where if you input either a phrase or the link to a tweet, it turns that into the bot? Maybe even generating a image of the bot? (Could be hilariously random!)

This makes me wonder, are there any Twitter games? I don't know since I don't have a profile. Could that be done (mIRC compatibility aside, that is?)

The only one I know of off the top of my head is Tweeria (my profile for it lol).  Basically you just tweet on Twitter and occasionally log into Tweeria to sell equipment or buy new equipment or something.  It's almost Idle RPG but it isn't 100% automatic/ignorable like Idle RPG is.

I'm sure there's other Twitter games but that's the only one I know of/ever signed up for.
