Girl, 5, found weighing 71kg in filthy house
POLICE in the US have charged parents of two grossly obese children with abuse.
Authorities found James and Anne Cordona's girls, aged five and four, living in a filthy, insect and mould-infested house in Marietta, Georgia.
The five-year-old child weighed 71kg and her four-year-old sister, 40kg.
A five-year-old girl should weigh about 19kg and four-year-old, 16kg.
A police warrant for the Cordonas said the older girl's hair was matted and infested with lice and bugs, and that she was so overweight she couldn't walk without wheezing.
Her sister was reportedly found lying on a stained mattress wearing only a urine-soaked diaper.
The soles of her feet were black from dirt and she was also allegedly covered in insect bites.
Mrs Cordona told news show CBS Atlanta: "I'm not guilty of anything."
She has been released on a good behaviour bond while her husband remains in jail.
The Cordonas' neighbour, Larry Willis, told a local a newspaper that the girls "didn't wear normal kid clothes. They were often dressed in robe-type clothes or diapers."
"And I don't remember seeing them in shoes, even in the cooler weather." he said.
The girls have been taken into care.
For those who don't speak moon weights, 71kg is 156.53 pounds. The five year old weighs almost 30 lbs heavier than me. The four year old sister weighs 88.18 lbs.
