Official: Boy In State Nearly Strangled Self With McDonald's Toy

HARTFORD —

Connecticut's consumer protection commissioner says a 4-year-old boy nearly strangled himself with a McDonald's Happy Meal toy and is calling on federal authorities to remove it from the marketplace.

Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. said Monday that the boy from the New London-Ledyard area put a bracelet from "The Last Airbender Katara" toy around his neck June 30 and began to lose consciousness, but his mother removed it before any serious harm was done.

The boy wasn't identified.

Farrell is asking the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to take quick action. The request comes nearly two months after McDonald's recalled nearly 12 million cadmium-tainted "Shrek" drinking glasses.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said she was looking into the matter Monday.

First off, I'm pretty sure the McDonald's toys usually say an age range. There's special toys for the younger kids. Second, no, we don't want to be parents! We want to sue/yell at corporations to do it for us!!

Whatever happened to watching your kid and teaching your kid not to do something??

Usually ages 3 and up, but seriously? A bracelet is getting recalled because a kid is THAT retarded?
