Bazz-B attempts to use their leader's rage as an incentive for Cang Du to leave Hitsugaya to him, but Cang Du states that Yhwach was the one that gave such an order, forcing Bazz-B to reluctantly let him take over. Cang Du throws Ranagiku, with her throat slit, onto the ground, shocking Hitsugaya. Cang Du explains his philosophy of how people who've been together for awhile should die together, and then introduces himself as Sternritter I, "The Iron." He activates Hitsugaya's Bankai. He comments that it is a beautiful Bankai, but also expresses his regret at letting
Daiguren Hyōrinmaru, something that has been with Hitsugaya for awhile, stay alive.
Mayuri and Urahara discuss the fact Urahara has found a way to retrieve a stolen Bankai. Mayuri then reprimands Urahara for secretly inserting a communicator into his clothing and hangs up. However, Urahara arrives through a Senkaimon. Urahara asks Mayuri to help him with his plan, and points out Mayuri's secret room when he tries telling Urahara that he has no lab to work with. The staff of the SRDI begin rushing to enact the plan. Urahara then takes out some small tablets called "Shineiyaku", which is designed to prevent Bankai from being stolen. Urahara then compares Bankai to an Arrancar's Resurrección, as they have the same principles behind how they work. He then notes that although they recruited Arrancar into their army, the Wandenreich could not steal their Resurreción. Urahara theorizes that it is impossible to steal a Resurreción, and Mayuri theorizes that it would've been bad to a Quincy's reputation to steal one. Akon alerts Urahara and Mayuri that they located all the captains around the Seireitei and will proceed with the plan.
Urahara begins talking to the captains and lieutenants, and distributes the Shineiyaku, asking those with Bankai to take it via physical contact. Hitsugaya absorbs the pill, as Cang Du watches on in confusion. Mayuri and Urahara discuss why the Quincy kill Hollows. Mayuri states that it is impossible to maintain hostilities against something mindless. The only conclusion he could come up with was that the hatred was created through fear of something that could kill them. Urahara confirms this and states that the Quincy has no natural way of defending against Hollows, and that if a Hollow erodes them, their souls will be destroyed. He explains that by temporarily Hollowfying, then the Captain's Bankai will become dangerous to a Quincy. Elsewhere, Hitsugaya's stolen Bankai breaks in a burst of blood.
