So last night Breezieana and I were looking through IMDB at the various movies that are projected to come out this year in order to figure out which ones we’d like to go see. We saw a few that are pretty obviously going to be “must sees” including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Thor and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Then we saw a few movies that piqued our interest but are not necessarily “I HAVE TO SEE IT IN THEATERS” type movies, including a psychological thriller named Unknown starring Liam Neeson. But what really surprised both of us is the fact they made a Justin Bieber movie.
Last night the storyline for that movie read: A look at Justin Bieber’s early life, his rise to fame, and behind the scenes of his 2010 tour. Wait, what? His EARLY LIFE!? He’s 15! What kind of drama could he possibly have in his “early life?” Well, I kind of imagined some of it would go like this:
“From within the womb Justin Bieber knew he was destined to become one of the most hated singers on the planet. But trouble arose in daycare when Suzie Sue refused to share her cookie with Bieber. ”
Well, whatever. This year the major overarching theme seems to be aliens in movies. We saw many movies where the synopsis mentioned something about aliens. Heck, even Thor could be considered an alien due to his backstory. Overall though, there’s going to be a handful of really good movies to see this year and a whole lot of bad ones that I pray I never get to see.
What do you think? If you’ve browsed through the upcoming movies for the year leave a comment and let me know what movies you’re excited to see.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble is an animated movie based on the Trigun series that was originally based on a manga by the same title. If you’ve never seen Trigun, well, why are you reading this review? Seriously. Go watch it. It’s a series that’s set on a desert planet (named Gunsmoke) and is a bit like the old west. It’s main focus is on a man named Vash the Stampede, who has a $$60 billion reward on his head and is nicknamed “The Humanoid Typhoon” for the complete eradication of a town. It turns out, though, that Vash is not as devious as the most wanted posters would have you believe. The series is full of comedy and action and will definitely keep you hooked until the end.
With that said, the original animated series ran in 1998 for 26 episodes. Most of us that watched and loved Trigun were begging for more. Then we heard rumors that a Trigun movie was going to be made. So we were excited. And we waited, and waited. But no news came. Slowly we forgot all about Trigun’s movie and the series itself sort of slipped into the back of our minds as something we enjoyed but it was time to move on. Until 2010.
BAM! The Trigun movie, Badlands Rumble, came out of NOWHERE! Lord knows I didn’t know anything about it until I saw a news article for it being released on DVD/Blu-ray in Japan. But there it is. Turns out it was released in theaters (in Japan) on April of 2010 and on DVD/Blu-Ray on December 15. FUNimation has gotten the rights to dub and release it here in the States, so if you’re not keen on the Japanese version just hang in there a bit longer and perhaps you’ll see it too.
Now then, with the basic intro of it all, let’s get right down to the review. Was it good? Bad? Did it keep with how Trigun was in `98?
This is just a very quick post to announce that I have updated Kon Offline to version 1.1.1 on 1/1/11. :)
There’s only one change in this version and that’s an updated LB Brain that I’m testing out. The biggest change is that when constructing sentences it can go look backwards as well as forwards through the brain files. Previous versions of the LB Brain only looked forward. What’s the difference? Consider this:
“empty as your soul!”
vs
“Your words are as empty as your soul!”
In the past the first line is what Kon would spit out. Now it will try to spit out the second line by going backwards and looking to see what “empty as your soul” is connected to. Sometimes it will mix things up and create hilariously weird lines. Sometimes it’ll be just right.
Anyway, this is long enough. Go download, test and let me know if you like the changes.
