I’m not dead! And I haven’t forgotten about my site–well, completely.
I’ve actually been pretty busy (between work, life and working on Manga Shouten) so I haven’t really had the time/urge to update the site.
I just wanted to take the time to mention that a new Kon release is coming soon. If you’re interested in hearing about what I’m working on with it, continue reading.
Alright, with version 1.3.0 I thought it was about time to try and take care of a few problems and add a few things that have been bouncing around in my mind for a while now.
The first thing I really wanted to do was fix the Twitter issue where it would post “UNNAMED_USER” instead of actually picking a name. This has been resolved. Furthermore, I found a bug that prevented Kon from seeing every person sitting in a channel and fixed that. Finally, I made it so it can replace multiple UNNAMED_USERs in a single sentence with more than one channel user (unless there’s only one user in the channel of course).
This update also says goodbye to the (laughably beloved) Google Brain. It turns out Google has dramatically changed the way the search results are displayed so that no amounts of regEx patterns will fix it. This’ll make the next update version a few kb smaller. Still, it’s sad to say goodbye to an original idea that never seemed to work out correctly.
There’s a few other things I’m working on and they will be revealed with the version is released in a few days. I just wanted to give everyone a small brief look at what I’m doing with the bot and to prove that I’m not dead in a ditch somewhere. :)
